I started working in the sulfuric acid plant not long ago and am not familiar with the mixing of raw materials. Our plant uses three types of minerals in combination: local mineral (S: 26%, C: 4.5%), imported mineral (S: 30%, C: 1.2%), and sulfur (S: about 98%); in addition, coarse slag return material is also mixed in. The ratio is: 4:3:1:1. Dear sea friends, what are the principles for determining the ratio of minerals to be fed into the furnace? Is the blended coarse slag return included in the calculation of the sulfur content in the ore fed into the furnace? What should be done if the furnace temperature is too high? Is the acid produced from sulfur, or from pyrite? The ore fed into the furnace is intended to ensure the normal operation of the furnace; the sulfur, iron, and moisture contents need to be appropriate, while a high carbon content will increase the temperature of the furnace. Fluctuations in furnace temperature are normal; adjustments can be made at any time. With the right feed rate and air volume, the temperature can be controlled by adjusting the amount of material fed in. Water spraying is used when the temperature is too high – this is for reference only
You need an iron content; the acid-to-pyrite slag ratio is very important, and it’s profitable to use slag rather than acid
