Precautions for single-column distillation

Now our factory plans to use a tower to distill 80% crude methanol. Are there any special features of single-column distillation? Are there any things to keep in mind?
The purity achieved through single-column distillation is certainly not as high as that obtained with double-column distillation, but it reduces the equipment costs; for some small businesses, this represents a significant savings in investment

There’s no difference; as long as there are no light components, it operates just like a normal pressure tower. If there are light components, it becomes a bit complicated; as for whether one tower will suffice, I’m really not sure. Methanol is extracted via the side line; how can the light components be separated at the top of the tower and then recycled back?
We now place the light components in the reflux tank, with methanol being extracted from the top of the tower. Residual liquid is taken from the top of the tower. All the basic parameters are within the acceptable range, but the acidity of the product remains above the specified limit.
Even after adding alkali to the feed with a pH of around 8.5, the acidity of the product remained very high. How should such problems be handled?
How does the reflux tank release the light components? You didn’t add any extractant – so what’s causing the residue at the top of the tower? The acid value is high; use less of your alkaline solution.
The residual liquid is collected at the bottom of the tower. I was wrong. Why is less alkali needed when acidity is high?
