I’m currently going through the process of submitting the construction drawings for approval, and it’s really quite troublesome. I’d like to share some insights on this: The requirements for submitting construction drawings vary depending on local regulations, and there are many departments that need to be consulted, such as the meteorological bureau, earthquake resistance office, drawing review office, planning bureau, fire department, etc. The entire approval process takes a long time, and one has to keep responding to the comments made by experts – it’s extremely complicated and cumbersome. As a result, in China, projects are usually submitted for approval only just before construction begins; it also depends on your relationships with the local authorities. These days, the construction timeline for projects is very short and tight; it’s simply impossible to complete the review of construction drawings before construction begins.
Following the regular procedures is quite troublesome; there are ways to handle it – it’s not necessary to go through the standard process.
