Why can’t the CS300 be tested after it is installed at home? All other functions of the CS300 work, but it cannot be tested. Please help!
I really dislike such practices! 1. For a home computer, how can industrial equipment be installed on it? What to do in case of a viral infection? 2. Everyone loves freedom, and there’s also the issue of software licensing here! Never do this again!
It could be a problem with software installation, or it might be an issue related to software licensing; generally, software without proper licensing has some of its functions restricted. It’s fine to install industrial control software on your home computer; it shows that you are proactive and eager to learn. Practicing on a machine at home is much better than working on the actual installation site.
I can’t agree with your view; home computers can also run industrial control software. The computer at my home has all the control software that is used in our factory installed on it, and there’s nothing we can do about systems that don’t support it. Software such as ABB Freelance 2000, JX-300XP, Tricon, Intouch, and Trusted 1131 can be installed on home computers, and they all function properly – they can access databases, and some of them even allow for simulation. This is really great. There are also control software programs; if the system requires WIN NT or UNIX, it’s impossible to install them, but if the system supports it, then they can be installed. Regarding antivirus issues, if a home computer is infected with viruses, antivirus software or a system reinstall can resolve the problem. The test database for home computers cannot either be copied directly to the device for use; usually, after simulation testing is completed in the office, the database is modified on the device. Once the system is online on the device, it cannot be altered arbitrarily.
It’s just a matter of personal opinions versus corporate practices! I’m just reminding you: never copy anything from your personal computer to the control computer! Our company has strict regulations: Industrial control software is strictly prohibited from being copied to personal or office computers!
