Corrosion occurred in the hydrogen production third water separation tank; the flanges of the second and third water separation tanks were replaced during maintenance. After operations resumed, after about 2 months of operation, minor cracks appeared at the welded fittings, resulting in leaks. Immediate action was taken by installing clamps to address the issue, and later all the pipelines were replaced during another maintenance session, after which no problems occurred anymore. The pipeline is made of 304 stainless steel; why do the pipeline fittings become so fragile after being exposed to high temperatures (that is, during the first maintenance work when welding is performed there)? Is it possible that, during long-term operation, hydrogen molecules penetrate into the crystals of the pipeline material, and under high temperatures these molecules cause changes that reduce the material’s corrosion resistance, leading to leaks? Or some other reason? Is it still due to stress? Solve? ? ?
It’s likely due to carbonation corrosion; ours are composite panels, and the most severely corroded areas are the second and third water separation tanks
Replace it when necessary; acid corrosion, hydrogen corrosion, and steam corrosion will cause problems, otherwise there will be more leakage points over time, making things harder to deal with
Carbonation corrosion also causes damage to white steel pipelines; another important cause is phase transformation corrosion.
