It’s hard to answer this question. Firstly, the sealing device can be designed as a non-contact type, with a very small gap between the fixed component and the moving component; it can also be designed as a contact type, with sliding contact between the fixed component and the moving component. So, it depends on whether it is a contactless method; if so, there are requirements regarding the gap. Given the choice of this sealing material, this gap is also very small. Any gap that allows for easy installation will do. I have also encountered a structure in which there are gaps along the entire sealing length, but there are several semi-circular protrusions in the middle that are in contact with each other and make contact during installation.
