A foreign customer asked me for 125LB flanges; he said that 150LB flanges were too heavy. I knew such a specification wasn’t listed in ASME standards, but I wasn’t sure at the time. What should I do?
From a sales perspective, if it’s necessary to provide something to the customers, then it has to be a custom-made solution. First, understand the customer’s purpose, and then consider safety and convenience (after all, standards are easier to implement, right?) ), in terms of maintenance, it’s necessary to see if we can convince the customer to accept the standard ones. It’s just a matter of price, I think? By how much can it be increased? From a professional perspective, his pressure application should be around 20 bar, which is quite high as well. Safety first!
ASME B16.1-2010 has 125Lb flanges
The 125LB and 250LB flanges are applicable only to cast iron flanges; if carbon steel valves are made to these dimensions, they may be heavier.
