Problem description: After the maintenance of the centrifugal compressor, the vibration measurement values at both ends of the compressor’s main shaft showed that one end had a very low value, below 10, while at the other end one reading was around 30 and another was at the full scale of 100. The vibration alarm threshold is 63. Why does this situation occur? Solution Option 1: 1. Check your probe; 2. Check your assembly data. Option 2: It’s possible that the vibration probe of the instrument is not installed properly – either too deep or too shallow, with an incorrect gap, or it may not be properly aligned. Conclusion: The instrument probe is not installed correctly and may not be properly aligned; carefully check the assembly data again.

Accuracy of test data — First, the instrument must be calibrated before testing to determine its accuracy; have you done that? Secondly, more than 5 point comparison data points are required, and then the average value is calculated. Was your data obtained in this way? Once again, if one person is unable to be certain, ask two more people to take measurements and observe any changes in the data. Were your data obtained by just one person? Also, if stability issues with the equipment are suspected, two people can simultaneously test the 10 and 100 points to see what the data shows
