What is the purpose of adding hot lime during the melting of sulfur in the production of sulfuric acid? Thank you!
Add lime to neutralize the free acids in solid sulfur.
Remove the acidic components from sulfur to prevent equipment corrosion
What does hot lime mean? Lime powder works too; there are those with added soda ash, but the cost is high
