The reaction system is an aqueous phase with a solid-liquid suspension. The pH value is 8-11, and the temperature is 60-80 degrees Celsius. A concentrated solution (about 2 mol/L) with sulfates as the main component. Which stainless steel is suitable for the boiler body material? Is 316 okay? The reaction vessel is equipped with a jacket, and circulating water or heat transfer oil is used inside to heat the vessel. What material is suitable for the jacket? The name of the medium is unknown; 316 should work. The container is small in size, and the jacket can be made of the same material as the main body.

Another factor is the thickness of the material used for the reactor. Can I use 316 stainless steel that is 3 millimeters thick? Welding operations need to be carried out on the kettle body
Since the temperature is not high, a carbon steel lining with a plastic coating can be used, which yields very good results
A vessel with a jacket falls under the category of externally pressurized vessels. Such vessels require thick walls, and the exact thickness depends on the pressure inside the vessel; 3 mm might be a bit too thin.
It has a jacket, requiring good heat transfer; the lining has a certain impact on heat transfer.
My reaction takes place at atmospheric pressure; there is circulating hot water in the jacket, so the pressure should not be high
The minimum thickness must be 4 MM, and high pressure is not allowed either.
The solution in the reaction system is weakly alkaline; is carbon steel corrosion-resistant?
Using a steel-lined plastic heating element isn’t very good! What a hassle! If it’s possible to use metal, it is recommended to choose a metal material for fabrication ; If heat is applied using jacketed water or thermal oil, it is advisable to calculate the thickness; moreover, this does not count as a pressure vessel either
