Is the welding method for the socket weld pipe junction and the main pipeline socket welding or butt welding? Is the welding method for the pipe joints and main pipelines socket welding or butt welding?
There is no such thing as socket welding or butt welding when referring to the main pipe; it is the branch pipes that are concerned here. For socket welding, the corresponding branch pipes and pipe fittings use socket welding, while butt welding is used in the opposite case!
But when filling out the welding record form, it’s necessary to indicate what type of welding method was used
