When the feed composition becomes lighter, does the heat input to the reboiler increase or decrease? I read some posts, and the answers were all different. Also, once the group weight is reduced, how should the temperature of the sensitive plate be controlled – kept constant or adjusted? From the T-X-Y diagram. Even if the feed composition changes, as long as the temperature remains constant, the gas-liquid composition stays the same. But if the temperature is reduced, according to the phase diagram, the composition of the gas phase increases – wouldn’t that be better?
We can think of it this way: as the components become lighter, more heat is required to vaporize them, so the heating load on the reboiler at the bottom of the tower increases. At the same time, the concentration of heavier components at the top of the tower rises, and therefore an appropriate reflux ratio at the top of the tower must be provided.
But with more light components, the bubble point should decrease, right? Can the temperature be reduced accordingly?
Raoult’s law tells us that when there is a higher abundance of the light component, its concentration in the liquid phase at equilibrium increases.
A too low boiling point will lower the temperature inside the system’s tower, rather than being a result of us deliberately lowering the temperature!
Could the temperature of the sensitive plate be reduced accordingly?
