For a newly built factory, under what circumstances should a pump house be installed, and under what circumstances can only an open-air pump area be used? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each approach? If only an open-air pump area is installed, what are the fire separation requirements between the pump area and other buildings and structures?
Personal understanding: For long-term operation, and when there are no specific requirements regarding the location of the pump itself, a pump room can be installed. For example: A pump room can be installed for the vacuum pumps inside the workshop. An open-air pump is used for the feeding pump. Due to the location of the storage tank, the material feeding pump is confined to a certain area and cannot be moved into the pump room. There are no special requirements regarding distance; today’s pumps all come with explosion-proof motors, so there’s no issue.
It relates to the properties of the materials that come into contact with vacuum: if there are flammable or explosive materials, they must be handled in an outdoor pumping area. Materials drawn out in this way are prone to diffusion and do not easily create an explosive environment. Excessive noise should not be allowed in the pump room. I’m an outsider; you should check the specifications.
It is determined based on the conveying medium, external conditions, and design requirements. For example, if the medium has a low freezing point and freezing occurs in winter in our cold regions, a pump room is generally installed; Vacuum pump units generally also have a separate pump room ; For pump rooms that are prone to fire and explosion, safety measures such as explosion venting and sprinkling systems must be considered. If none of the above reasons apply, it is generally arranged outdoors.
