During thermocouple measurement, the ambient temperatures at the measuring end and the connection terminals of the secondary instrument are different; therefore, compensation is required, and this is the function of the compensation wire. If a compensation wire is used, there is no need to consider additional compensation factors. Furthermore, the DCS system takes compensation into account in its circuits and programs during design, so no additional compensation calculations are required.
