I’m seeking help from everyone: how should dangerous gases and liquids be handled in the case of leaks in pipes and valves, and how should ordinary gases and liquids be dealt with?
Personal opinion, for reference only: First of all, take proper personal safety precautions during the handling process (in general, wear an air respirator in case of a large spill)； Wear a respirator for trace amounts of toxins ； For minor non-toxic leaks, it is not necessary to wear a SCBA or mask ； Secondly, ensure proper isolation of the connected pipeline equipment ； Third, it is best to use explosion-proof tools throughout ； Fourth, if the leakage is severe and difficult to control (such as a leak in the first valve connected to the storage equipment), in addition to shutting down the system promptly, it is necessary to call the fire department.
For ordinary gases and liquids that are not hazardous, measures such as closing valves or installing blind flanges can be taken to deal with them. In the case of hazardous gases or liquids, if the leakage is not severe, personnel must wear appropriate protective equipment, use the right tools, and wear safety belts as necessary when carrying out repairs. If the situation is serious, it is necessary to call the fire department. Subsequently, personnel were arranged for an emergency evacuation.
