The anti-surge valve of our compressor keeps experiencing large fluctuations within 1 second – for example, it drops from 0% to 60% on many occasions. The instruments fail to identify the cause; obviously the valve isn’t actually operating, but the curve shows fluctuations, and these are fluctuations in the feedback values. Could anyone please help resolve this issue?
Is it false surge caused by the pressure ratio? The control room should check whether it is outside the surge line; on-site, it is possible to check if there is liquid in the inlet flow. If it is a gas-rich compressor, there might be liquid in the venturi tube
If it’s certain that the valve isn’t moving, could there be an issue with the valve position feedback? Check to see if the valve’s feedback mechanism is damaged. . . Was it disturbed by vibration?

It can be considered an ordinary control valve, used merely for preventing surge in compressors.
The valve on-site did not move, and it is impossible for it to achieve such a movement amplitude within 1 second; therefore, it is highly likely that there is a problem with the valve position feedback, such as a temporary short circuit caused by loose wiring on-site under vibration conditions.
Is it an electric valve or a pneumatic valve? , did the traffic change while the action was taking place?
This is easy to determine; if there are fluctuations in the feedback while the outlet pressure of the compressor remains unchanged, then it’s a problem with the feedback device – it’s possible that resonance occurs in the valve body within a certain flow range
1. Check for any temperature changes in flow rate, etc.; if none are present, it’s definitely a fault with the feedback component. 2. Examine the recorded curves to look at the relevant parameters. 3. If that doesn’t work, replace it with another one
