Why must new acid-producing catalysts be sulfided and saturated (pre-saturated)? What is pre-saturation? How to do it? I’m a beginner; could the seniors please explain it to me? Thank you first!
It involves using a low concentration of sulfur dioxide treatment, primarily to prevent the new catalyst from being too active and generating excessive heat, which could affect its performance
It is mainly about achieving temperature equilibrium for the catalyst to operate properly
The main issue is that the new catalysts are quite sensitive; usually, no pre-treatment is carried out before they leave the factory, or if it is done, it isn’t done evenly. The treatment is carried out within the system, at a gas concentration of less than 5, with temperature increases made in stages every 30 minutes, in order to control fluctuations. In fact, this process shouldn’t be called pre-saturation; rather, it should be referred to as pre-activation.
During the pre-activation process, new phases can be formed.
