The pump pressure at the shaft end of the reciprocating compressor on our unit exceeds the normal value during startup; the oil temperature and flow rate are fine. I would appreciate it if everyone could help analyze what might be the cause. Thank you
Is it only during startup? Could it be that the auxiliary oil pump doesn’t shut down in time?
The two pumps are operating in parallel; it’s not clear whether the auxiliary oil pump has stopped. If it stops, it could be that low oil temperature causes high oil pressure.
There is a knob on the pump body itself for adjusting its own pressure; you can try adjusting it.
In reciprocating compressors without an oil preheating device, if the oil has a high viscosity, it is possible for the pressure to exceed normal levels when the shaft pump starts. Usually, after operating for some time, the oil pressure will decrease naturally as the oil temperature rises.
Turn on the heater in the compressor crankcase to keep the oil temperature around 25 degrees. Otherwise, the oil pressure will increase momentarily, which will cause the performance to decline; you can try running it at a lower oil temperature.
It is likely the result of the shaft-mounted pump having a higher efficiency than the auxiliary oil pump.
It’s probably caused by low oil temperature and high oil viscosity. Don’t you turn on the heater before starting? Another thing is that there should be an oil temperature interlock
Check your oil temperature and lubricant heater.
If the oil temperature is normal, a blacksmith can make the adjustment
Just use the self-acting control valve at the oil regulating station, or the bypass valve of the shaft pump, to reduce the pressure
