I have a question: if, when closing the valve, the valve stem nut and the valve stem stop functioning – that is, the valve stem nut moves as it should according to the diagram, but the valve doesn’t work – is it because the bearing cover isn’t functioning properly? If that’s the case, then why can’t the valve stem move if the valve stem nut and the bearing cover are welded together from below? I hope someone can explain what should be done. Thank you.

In terms of the valve’s structure, the valve stem and the bearing cap are not integrated as one unit. If the stem nut rotates in the same direction as the stem, it is likely that the key in the lock nut is damaged; repairing it or replacing it should resolve the issue.
