What are the corrosion potentials of 316L and 25-22-2? If both are used in urine treatment towers, which one will corrode first?
The answer is definitely that 316L corrodes first. 316L contains 17% chromium, while 25-22-2 contains 25% chromium; not only is the chromium content higher in 25-22-2, but the nickel content is also over 50% higher. As a result, its corrosion resistance is much better than that of 316L. It’s worth noting that 316L can be purchased domestically, but 25-22-2 must be imported, as there is still a significant gap between domestic production and foreign standards when it comes to steel intended for urea production. This gap exists in terms of control of harmful elements, purity of the steel, control of grain size, and microstructural stability. Don’t opt for cheaper domestic products – the consequences can be quite serious.
There is another commonly used steel grade, 316LMOD, which is also designed for use with urea; it’s not the 316L mentioned by the original poster. I’m not sure whether the 316L referred to is actually 316Lmod. It’s better to purchase this steel grade imported; if you buy domestically, you might be lucky enough to get steel produced by small factories, but if not, well… I don’t want to say anything more about that········
Do not be misled – there is no domestically produced urea steel in the form of sheets or pipes. Any claim that such products are made in China is false; China does not yet possess this technology. Even the raw materials for bars are imported
We often receive inquiries from petrochemical equipment companies, who claim that the prices we quote are too high. Hehe; they say that the domestically produced versions are much cheaper. As for where exactly they obtain those domestically produced products, we really have no idea······· It’s frustrating

Our company is also one of the major stainless steel manufacturers in China; we have yet to produce 316LMod and 25-22-2. Regarding urea-grade stainless steel, aren’t 317L and 2205 suitable?
We are currently producing 90% of the urea steel sheets, haha. 724L (316L/UG), 725LN (25-22-2).
