How to effectively reduce pipeline pressure loss. Recently, a customer contacted me and mentioned that the actual exhaust pressure of an oil-free air compressor in their company was lower than the set value. They asked me what the reason for this was and whether repairs were necessary I told him that this is a very normal situation. This is because the compressed gas from the air compressor inevitably comes into contact with certain components during transmission, and coupled with some inevitable leaks, pressure loss occurs easily, resulting in the actual operating pressure being lower than the set pressure. Additionally, one point that must be mentioned regarding pressure loss is pipeline pressure loss. When compressed gas flows inside a pipe, frictional resistance is generated in the straight sections of the pipe ; In addition, local resistance is also generated at valves, tees, elbows, reducers, etc. Coupled with the local pressure losses caused by elbows, reducers, tee joints, valves, and other components, all these areas can lead to pressure losses, resulting in the actual operating pressure being lower than the set pressure. For our users, proper planning and installation of air compressor pipelines can effectively reduce pressure losses. Additionally, regarding the effective reduction of pressure loss in pipelines, I also have a few tips to share with everyone: 1. Plan carefully to minimize the total length of the pipelines as much as possible. Because the longer the pipeline, the greater the pressure loss. 2. During pipeline installation, it is necessary to maintain a straight line as much as possible and avoid too many bends. 3. Maintain the integrity of valves in the piping system. In the system, except for the control valves, most valves are in either fully open or fully closed positions. When a valve cannot be opened completely due to a fault, it inevitably causes throttling of steam and water, thereby increasing the local resistance loss of the working fluid. 4. Minimize connectors and accessories in the pipes as much as possible. In steam and water piping systems, in order to facilitate adjustment, switching, and accident handling, it is necessary to install various accessories such as valves, elbows, tees, and reducers. These accessories, however, are the source of local resistance. Therefore, while ensuring ease of operation and production safety, it is important to minimize the use of such piping accessories in order to reduce unnecessary losses due to local resistance. 5. Select an appropriate working fluid flow rate. As can be seen from the calculations of fluid resistance losses, both frictional loss and local loss are proportional to the square of the flow velocity; the higher the flow velocity, the greater the pressure loss. But the flow rate is low, and a large amount of metal material is consumed. Therefore, an economic comparison must be conducted to select a reasonable working fluid flow rate.
