The flame detector in a sulfur incinerator is used to detect flames; what is the difference between it and a thermocouple? We usually use flame detectors; we have never used thermocouples.
No, “fire detection” is short for flame detector – it’s used to detect the presence of flames, so as to prevent one from not realizing that the furnace has stopped working. A thermocouple is used for temperature measurement, to detect temperature.
Of course, they are not the same thing. Flame detectors are placed at the flame of the furnace; there are usually two of them, and a 2-out-of-2 voting system is used in the interlock mechanism. As for thermocouples, there are many of them, with ones located at the front, middle, and back parts of the furnace chamber
