Tang Limin, the head of the Economic Planning Bureau of Sichuan Province in China, made the above remarks to media reporters during the National People’s Congress held in Beijing. Once completed, the first large-scale refinery located in Pengzhou City is expected to process crude oil supplied from northwestern China and Kazakhstan. Last April, China National Petroleum Corporation, Asia’s largest oil and gas producer, began laying a 878-kilometer-long pipeline to connect this new refinery with the Lanzhou oil production center located in Gansu Province. Tang Limin said that China National Petroleum Corporation’s plan to build a complex with an annual ethylene production capacity of 800,000 tons in the suburbs of Nanchong has recently received environmental approval.
