What kind of treatment is generally required when pipes pass through firewalls or dikes?
If the pipelines in the tank area indeed need to pass through fire dikes, the pipelines should be fitted with seamless sleeves, and any gaps should be sealed using non-combustible materials and cement, etc., to ensure safety and prevent leaks or other such issues.
The piping in the tank area requires attention to the following aspects: 1. The pipes in the tank area should be arranged in a centralized manner; pipe racks should not be used, instead, above-ground pipe supports should be employed, with the height of these supports being no less than 300 mm. This is mainly to facilitate firefighting and maintenance. 2. The installation height of the inlet and outlet pipes of the oil tank, as well as the elevation of the main corridor, must take into account the installation height required when connecting these elements together. If the opening in front of the tank is too high, it becomes difficult to carry out operations; if it is too low, then when connecting it to the main corridor and raising its height, the requirement regarding the height of one elbow for pipes of the maximum diameter is not met, and thus the pipes cannot be installed. 3. The pipe galleries in large tank farms are relatively long; the locations for installing type-shifting compensators should be determined reasonably, and dikes or fire dikes cannot be used as fixed points. 4. Protective sleeves should be installed when pipes pass through fire dikes, and the openings must be tightly sealed with non-combustible materials. 5. An operating platform should be installed above the pipes at the operation passage. Inspections must not be carried out by stepping on the lines. 6. The pipelines in the tank area also need to be properly grounded to prevent static electricity. These are the main things that should be focused on.
