How should waste extractants such as P507 and P204 be disposed of? No one recycles it. Burn it?
I haven’t heard of any issues related to recycling yet. We have been in operation for over 2 years, and I’ve never come across any problems with used extraction agents; new ones need to be added every day. I have only heard that when extraction agents are used for a long time, many impurity ions accumulate, and the regeneration process in the workshop is not effective enough, so the extraction agents need to be regenerated as a whole
You guys are so rich that you need to replenish the extractants every day; our company can’t afford that – we have to beg and plead just to get organic materials once
It’s not because of money – kerosene is naturally volatile. The average temperature here is quite high, so we need to top it up every few days; the amount used isn’t very large though
Kerosene costs 10,000 yuan per ton. It’s a time to cut costs, and the boss is worried about the expenses :(
How is the extractant in your company regenerated?
Extractants generally need to be replenished during the production process; there’s nothing that can be done about that. What you might be referring to is the need to reprocess the organic phase before returning it to the extraction process. It’s advisable to ensure that it is fully returned, or to carry out thorough treatment and regeneration based on the characteristics of that organic phase. One of the methods for reprocessing waste P507 and P204 is to wash them separately with sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid. The back-extraction medium used also varies depending on the impurities.
