What valve does XV represent in the flowchart? Seeking advice
XV: X indicates a plug valve, while V indicates that the valve body is made of chromium-molybdenum-vanadium steel
XV is a solenoid valve; it usually has the letters F.C/F.O/F.L written on it, which indicate a valve that closes under air pressure (closes in emergency situations), a valve that opens under air pressure (opens in emergency situations), and a valve that locks in its current position during emergencies
To figure out what it means, one needs to look at the image on the PID homepage; some symbols represent solenoid valves, while some design firms use XV to denote on-off valves
