The waste heat boilers located behind the acid gas combustion furnaces and the exhaust gas incinerators both produce medium-pressure steam at 38 kgf/cm2; is it possible to use a single steam drum for them?
If the steam pressure levels generated are the same, it is theoretically possible to share one steam drum. However, it cannot be guaranteed that the main combustion furnace and the incinerator will always operate simultaneously, and in terms of the process flow, these two waste heat boilers are located at considerable distances from each other – one upstream and the other downstream – making it unsuitable to use a single steam drum.
