Sure, it works. It depends on what you use it for! If they can be buried underground, then surely they can be buried on the ground as well! :) Weren’t the drainage pipes in old buildings all cast iron pipes?
Sure! Anti-corrosion treatment is required on the outside. Otherwise, it will oxidize over time.
It’s an underground water pipe, so a flow meter is needed; the flow meter should be installed on the ground, as it’s difficult to ensure proper waterproofing in the water meter well.
