What is the function of the bypass system in a steam turbine generator set?

It recovers the working fluid during unit startup, thereby reducing noise. This is because the minimum stable combustion load of the boiler is much higher than the steam flow rate required for starting the turbine; if such unbalanced flows were released into the atmosphere, it would result in significant losses of working fluid and heat. Therefore, a bypass system is used to recover this fluid； 2. Increase the steam parameters during unit startup to meet the requirements for starting the turbine ； 3. Protect the reheater during unit startup to avoid dry burning ； 4. Safety and overflow protection functions during unit operation; for example, it also serves as a safety valve for the bypass system equipped with a three-way valve.

Generally, back-pressure type units are equipped with a bypass system! Prevent issues with the unit from causing interruptions in steam supply later on!
