Today I saw a vacuum pump. The desalinated water first enters the gas-water separation tank of the pump, and then the water in that tank passes through a heat exchanger before returning to the pump casing. I would like to ask what is the purpose of the gas-water separation tank for the desalinated water?
Hello, since it is a water-ring vacuum pump, how can it create a vacuum without water? The desalinated water is used mainly to prevent scaling inside the pump over time, as this can affect the pump’s vacuum level.
Thanks. I was wondering if it’s not enough to just feed the desalinated water directly into the pump, which would also save the need for heat exchange as well as the function of the water separation tank
Without heat exchange, as the temperature rises, can the vacuum level still be maintained?
Desalinated water cannot be fed directly into the pump; there is a liquid seal in the gas-liquid separation unit. Water is added intermittently rather than continuously. When the liquid level drops, the solenoid valve opens automatically, and it closes once the specified liquid level is reached.
Our factory’s units don’t have coolers; I think the air-water separator is used to separate the gases dissolved in the water. When the water is subjected to centrifugal force inside the tank, its pressure drops, and if there are gases present in the water, it will affect the vacuum level. This is my personal understanding; please correct me if I’m wrong.
