Is the process of first removing compounds below C5, then those above C6, followed by extraction using an extractant, and finally separating benzene from the extractant with the extractant being reused, a common process? Which of the three extractants – sulfolane, N-formylmorpholine, and sulfolane+COS – is more advanced?
Is there anyone skilled who can explain and give some guidance?

The sulfolane solvent has advantages such as high selectivity for aromatics, strong dissolving capacity, high recovery rate of aromatics, a large density difference with the material to be extracted, good thermal stability, no corrosive effect on equipment, and virtually no toxicity to humans. Therefore, the aromatic extraction process using sulfolane as a solvent is one of the advanced methods both domestically and internationally at present.
In domestic benzene extraction or aromatic sequence extraction, sulfolane is generally used as the solvent; it is an excellent solvent for extracting aromatics or benzene, and extraction distillation technology is employed in this process.
