I’m not sure whether the poster is referring to a half coupling (quick connector) – one used for purging, pressure testing, or injection? If it is one of the above, then the quick connector is connected to the drain or vent valve on the main pipe through the conversion of internal and external threads, rather than being welded to the main pipe.
Brother on the 3rd floor, a half coupling and a quick connector are two different things. When creating PCD files in the PDS database, different MOD codes are used. Even quick connectors come in many different connection methods, and threading is just one of them. The half coupling is truly welded to the main pipe.
