How do you distinguish between the uses of “gutter” and “sewer”?

Both \"gutter\" and \"sewer\" refer to gutters; I’m not sure what the difference is
\"Gutter\" refers to the drainage channels on the eaves and roof, primarily used for draining rainwater； \"Sewer\" refers to sewers, which are primarily used for draining wastewater and surface water

Definition in the dictionary: gutter: 1, a long, hollow structure attached to the edge of a roof to collect rainwater and channel it away from the building; 2, a low area along the side of a road used to collect water and carry it away from the road; sewer: a pipe, usually underground, used to carry away water and sewage; for reference only
