How can one determine which side of a thrust bearing is the main thrust surface and which side is the secondary thrust surface?
For thrust bearings with the pivot at the center, it can be a bit difficult to distinguish between the main thrust pad and the secondary thrust pad when looking at them alone. However, for eccentric fulcrums (tiles), the primary and secondary thrusts can be determined based on the direction of rotation of the equipment. Additionally, on the equipment, the thrust bearings are located on the high-pressure side of the equipment, while the axial force of the rotor acts toward the low-pressure side (the inlet); therefore, the bearing shell near the impeller side is responsible for providing the main thrust. The parts that need to be inspected on site are all marked, so do not touch or move them casually, as this can easily lead to mistakes.
