Gas can form an explosive gas mixture with air at the end of the vent pipeline, and combustion or detonation may occur in the presence of a fire source (such as hot surfaces, sparks, lightning, etc.). To protect the equipment upstream, flame arresters need to be installed.
A flame arrester is installed to prevent flames from entering the equipment through the vent openings, and nitrogen protection is usually also applied
Fear that excessive gas velocity during venting may cause friction and ignition
