Hello, experts. I have just started working in the chemical equipment industry; I would appreciate your guidance! Why, in compression refrigeration systems, the refrigerant often becomes overheated after passing through the compressor and is excessively cooled in the condenser.
1. The compression of the refrigerant in the compressor is a process in which a gas is compressed; it is therefore an exothermic process, which results in heat generation; 2. In the condenser, the refrigerant does not undergo a “subcooling” process; it simply changes from a gaseous state to a liquid state. The refrigerant has its temperature reduced through throttling expansion via a throttle valve, and it absorbs heat in the evaporator; the heat exchanger where frosting or icing occurs on its surface is the evaporator. Generally speaking. Compressors generate heat, but excessive heat as you mentioned is hard to understand; it can only indicate that there is a problem with the compressor’s parameters. The refrigerant is cooled in the condenser to a temperature higher than room temperature, but not by much. In the refrigeration industry, supercooling by at least about 5 degrees is required to achieve good performance optimization. Generally speaking, supercooling the refrigerant is beneficial for the refrigeration system, but this is not always the case – it depends on the properties of the refrigerant.
