The 2-stage labyrinth-sealed reciprocating compressor initially had a high exhaust temperature, about 30 degrees higher than normal; all other parameters were normal. It was therefore suspected that a leak in the second-stage exhaust valve was causing the high exhaust temperature. The second-stage exhaust valve was replaced, and the second-stage suction valve was also replaced as a precaution. After restarting the compressor, the exhaust pressure on the first stage increased from 0.4 Mpa to 0.5 Mpa, the exhaust temperature on the second stage was 15 degrees higher than normal, and the motor current rose from 210 A to 240 A. The suction pipeline on the first stage was inspected and cleaned, but the problem remained unresolved. I don’t know what’s causing this now; please advise me. Note: The pressure value at the primary inlet remains unchanged; the pipeline should not be blocked. The exhaust pressure at the secondary stage also remains unchanged (since the backpressure in the secondary system has not changed). Additionally, this model is a labyrinth-sealed vertical compressor without piston rings
Regarding your description, it is normal for the current to increase first, as the exhaust pressure at stage 1 rises and the compression ratio at stage 1 also increases. But why did you say that it’s necessary to clean the intake pipeline at stage 1? Since the primary discharge pressure is rising, it should be the secondary suction pipeline that needs to be checked, right? Regarding the issue of the rising temperature at the beginning, your concerns are valid. After the replacement, it is necessary to check what the temperature of the primary exhaust is – whether it is higher than the original temperature – as this is what causes the increase in the secondary temperature. Since you have not carried out any maintenance on stage 1, it is recommended that you check the intake valve for stage 2.
Well, what was said on the second floor makes sense; it’s recommended that the original poster check the secondary intake valve
