Regarding the question of whether chromatography columns for Siemens chromat analyzers can be used interchangeably?

Hello everyone. Our plant’s olefin separation unit has purchased a total of 21 Siemens chromatography analyzers. The components that these analyzers are designed to measure, as well as their measurement ranges, vary among them. When purchasing spare parts for two years’ use, the manufacturer requested that a set of chromatography columns be acquired for each analyzer. Does anyone with expertise know whether these chromatography columns can be used interchangeably, thereby reducing the amount of spare parts needed? Generally, chromatography columns are divided into packed, micropacked, and capillary types; the technical attachments we provide are of the packed type.
It may not be universally applicable; for chromatographs of the same model, the chromatography columns are not necessarily identical, so it may not work in all cases
The same concept, with the same format, but each has its own specific parameters; only when the parameters are identical can it be used universally.
If it really can’t be used universally, then there’s no other choice but to spend money on it. Spare parts cost quite a lot over 2 years; on the other hand, not having them means that buying them separately later could cost even more. I hope the managers can understand this. It is recommended to pay close attention to the pre-column sections of these chromatographs; a large portion of them are likely to be universal :)
It’s best to find out what the internal filler is; try purchasing domestic versions – a large portion of them should be compatible
Chromatography columns have a shelf life; if they are used properly for around 7 years, will the spare parts stored there become ineffective?:o
