Dear colleagues in the fertilizer industry, let’s discuss the production of compound fertilizers using the amino acid method. What are your plants’ control parameters for granulation temperature, pH value, moisture content of the granules produced, and steam consumption?
The pH value is 5 or 6; test strips are used for measurement. The moisture content is around 4%, and the granulation temperature is 780 degrees
Is a pH value of 5–6 a bit low? Will the ball-making rate be high like this? The others are similar to yours
I’m just starting out. What is your pH level? Also, what is the normal ratio between ammonia and acid?
In fact, the pH value serves to determine the balling rate; at the same time, the requirements of soil testing and formulation also need to be taken into account, and the ratio of ammonia to acids is determined in order to adjust the pH value.
If the pH value is below 5.8, a process of drying followed by cooling is required; even if the temperature at the exit of the granulation stage is 70 degrees, it may still be difficult to dry the material, which in turn makes screening challenging. Different specifications have varying requirements regarding the amino acid method, and I believe that this method is merely a means to assist in granulation. With different systems in use, there might also be differences in how the amino acid method is applied.
The pH value is also closely related to the amount of monoammonium used. Phosphates constitute a pH buffer system, and the final pH value is determined by the degree of neutralization of the ammonium phosphates present, which in turn is related to the requirements for granulation.
