I work in process engineering; the site is located right behind the office building, and things there are very busy. A foreign consultant always insists that I go to the site, saying it’s important, and requires me to visit at least once every two days. But I really don’t want to go – it’s so much more comfortable to stay in the office! I only go to the site when it comes to determining the orientation of the equipment outlets; I really don’t see what’s the point of going there! ! ! I would appreciate your advice on what one needs to learn when going to the site as a technician, and how to acquire that knowledge. . .
Go to the site more often to understand how the equipment is installed, and compare it with the blueprints to see what the actual installation process looks like. It will be very helpful for managing the process in the future. If you just spend your days in the office working with theoretical knowledge and a few drawings, you will never be able to spot any problems. Furthermore, during the construction of domestic chemical engineering projects, there are many changes in the on-site processes. Find out why the process needs to be changed. What’s the logic in that? . . . . . . It’s much more than what you can learn just by being in the office all day.
If you go there often, you’ll understand why. You work in the manufacturing field, so this can’t be wrong. Twice a day is the minimum for us; when there are matters at hand, it becomes three or four times, or even throughout the day.

Those in charge of the manufacturing process still claim that visiting the site isn’t important; since the factory is located far away, those of us working on the manufacturing process often volunteer to go there on business trips.

At the site right now, only the equipment installation is taking place; piping work has not yet begun. Going to the site allows one to familiarize themselves with the locations where the equipment will be installed, which can be seen from the drawings. It doesn’t seem to involve much in terms of manufacturing processes. . .

One can learn knowledge related to equipment manufacturing and installation. To work in craftsmanship, one needs to know a bit about everything; only then is it easier to improve oneself. You can’t see everything just by looking at the drawings. Besides, the drawings might also be incorrect.
Aren’t devices designed and manufactured according to the parameters specified in your process requirements? Pay close attention during equipment installation to gather first-hand information on the site; only in this way will you be familiar with things during production.
