We are planning to upgrade our nitrogen fertilizer plant by adopting the low-temperature methanol washing process. I would like to know whether the production load has a significant impact on this process. What if the operating pressure deviates significantly from the design values? Can the plant still meet the operational requirements in such cases? Please give me some advice.
The system pressure is determined by the pressure and gas flow rate of your previous process, as well as the requirements of your subsequent process
I see. But what we designed is for a total gas flow rate, while the initial gas flow rate is only 60% of the full load. I’m not sure if this will work; what problems might arise from this? :)
Could you tell me the lowest load at which it can run? And then we need to figure out where to look for devices that have experience in this area!
60% load is no problem; we can operate it at 40% load, and sometimes even lower
There’s no problem at all. Nowadays, many coal chemical projects choose the low-temperature methanol washing process for desulfurization and decarbonization, and it’s common for the gasification system to operate at 60% load from the start; the low-temperature methanol washing process offers great operational flexibility.
We plan to do it this way, but the pressure required for that is quite low. What should we do if the pressure reaches 2.0 MPa? Can we still use low-temperature methanol washing?
No way, can it run with the load of this place? How is that regeneration effect?
The pressure can be controlled using the purge gas outlet valve for low-temperature methanol washing; there’s no problem with that.
Regeneration is carried out through flash evaporation, nitrogen stripping, and distillation; the low load does not affect the effectiveness of regeneration.
But the pressure we achieve when we discharge it is only around 2.0 MPa; there’s no way to increase that pressure further. Moreover, the load is too low, so the cooling effect from flashing isn’t sufficient to lower the temperature of the methanol liquid ? ? ?
