How long does it take for the defoamed liquid resulting from the regeneration of hydrogenated and non-hydrogenated solvents to require the addition of a defoamer?
Defoamers are generally added every two days; the specific amount and frequency depend on the concentration of the solvent used as well as the properties of the defoamer. The best approach is to keep a record each time foaming occurs and when the defoamer is added, so as to identify a pattern over time.
Our unit has been in operation for one and a half years without any antifoaming agents being added; currently the antifoaming time is 300 seconds, which seems a bit long.

If these measures prove ineffective or if they have a direct impact on production, then temporary addition of antifoaming agents should be considered only after assessing the actual situation, in order to minimize the impact on production

It wasn’t added before, but now it is added sometimes, mainly depending on the desulfurization effect of the lean liquid. However, it is best for the defoamer to be provided by the supplier of the desulfurizer; there is also an issue of compatibility when it comes to the defoamers used with different types of desulfurizers, and using the wrong one can have the opposite effect.
