I heard recently that a company in Yixing is planning to launch a 50,000 tons per year MMA production project (using the Japanese isobutylene process; a technology transfer agreement has likely already been signed and the delivery of the process packages is underway). I’m not sure which company it is Could you please advise!
Is it Jurong in Jiangsu? I heard they are working on this. This product has generated huge profits in recent years; it has a promising future

Jiangsu Yinyan Chemical is probably Jiangsu Yulang; it used to produce acrylic acid and ethanolamine, and now it focuses heavily on acrylic acid production. It seems the boss’s surname is Sun

How is this project? Are there any similar installations in China?
Domestic companies use the propylene cyanohydrin method, while Japanese-funded companies employ the isobutylene method
In the Chinese mainland, it is produced by Mitsubishi, Degussa, Lucite, Jihua, and Longxin Chemical. Domestically, the technology uses propylene and hydroalcohol, while abroad both butane and propylene along with hydroalcohol are used; the choice depends on one’s own raw material availability.
Currently, MMA is primarily produced in China using the ACH process, with Jihua, Degussa, Mitsubishi, Lucite, and Longxin Chemical being the main manufacturers. In Japan, several C4 production processes are currently in use.
The MMA industry in China still has significant potential; it’s not saturated like acrylic, which is why many acrylic manufacturers hope that one of their competitors will fail so that the market can improve. And that’s indeed the case: last year there was an explosion at Nippon Catalyst, and this year there was an explosion at Huayi as well. The MMA industry should be vigorously developed in the country.
Domestic C4 processes have been under development, but no construction or successful commissioning of plants with a capacity of 10,000 tons has yet taken place. In the country, swimming is practiced by individuals scattered across different areas, so it’s hard to see any improvement.
