The hydrogen sulfide content in the recycle hydrogen for our diesel hydrotreating process is sometimes very low, not exceeding 1000 ppm. There are no changes in the operation, and no waste hydrogen is being released. We checked for any leaks in the recycled hydrogen supply as well, but no leaks were found. What’s going on? Please give me some advice.

Our company is the same; our sulfur content is 2000 ppm. The nitrogen content is 950 ppm, and the hydrogen sulfide content in the recycled hydrogen is around 1000 ppm. This is mainly due to the reaction between hydrogen sulfide and ammonia, which results in the formation of ammonium hydrosulfide that dissolves in water, thereby reducing the hydrogen sulfide content in the recycled hydrogen
What are your raw materials? It may be due to a low sulfur content in the raw materials, or a high nitrogen content.
