In the methanol production project using coke oven gas at my company, the gas pipelines are buried about 2 meters underground. As it has been 5 years since the project started, the total length of these pipelines is 1500 meters. Just wash it with some warm water or steam (the temperature needs to be controlled); find a proper drainage point and that’s it!
You might be able to use pig cleaners for cleaning; many long-distance oil pipelines or gas pipelines are cleaned using such cleaners. However, pig cleaners require ball valves to be used as much as possible along the pipeline, otherwise the cleaners are likely to get blocked. Langfang CNPC Pipeline Bureau may have this technology.
