In UASB, the aerobically dewatered sludge produced internally can be packed and then fed in after anaerobic treatment for 2–3 months, yielding good results. Based on the control of VFA levels, the load is increased by 10% each time, and the changes in VFA are observed over 5–10 days after each increase. The aerobic sludge is aerated with the anaerobic sludge from the municipal wastewater treatment plant for several days, after which wastewater is gradually added. The amount of wastewater with COD added can be adjusted based on factors such as COD consumption, sludge concentration changes, F/M, SV30, DO, pH, and temperature.
