Such polymer is hydrophobic yet has water-labile linkages interconnecting the monomers. How should \"water-labile linkages\" be translated here? An unstable connection with water? Thank you~
Can it be understood as follows: water has unstable bonds and can bond with other monomers; it is hydrolyzable.

Is Lanliu polylactic acid? Haha. A literal translation of the above sentence is already quite good; what I would like to add is that since it refers to a single unit, it implies that water will be generated during the polymerization reaction. And this moisture is difficult to remove due to unstable hydrogen bonds with the monomer (lactic acid).
