A 10-kilometer pipeline trench, with oil transport pipes laid in it. I checked the material list; 55,755 meters of seamless steel pipe is required. Is this length the total length of the oil pipeline?
No, this refers to the length of the straight section of the pipe. The total length of the pipe includes the effective lengths of the straight sections, valves, flanges, elbows, tees, etc., which is what is commonly referred to as additional length in meters.
The pipe should have a horizontal U-shaped bend at regular intervals to counteract the tensile forces caused by thermal expansion and contraction of the pipe. Therefore, the total length of the pipes + valves, etc. must be greater than the length of the pipe tray!
