The coal slag/cinder produced in coal gasification comes out of the furnace at high temperature; how is it cooled?
The slag from Texaco reaches a temperature of below 50 degrees after being cooled in the quench chamber and lock hoppers; I’m not too sure about anything else.
Luchi uses hydraulic slag discharge; the ash is cooled as soon as it enters the slag ditch. Some also use scrapers to remove slag; it’s not clear how that is cooled, but it’s probably by watering as well.
In the Texaco gasification process, the high-temperature slag and syngas generated in the combustion chamber pass through the slag outlet and enter a downcomer protected by quenching water, where they then go into a quenching chamber bath. There, they are solidified and cooled as their temperature gradually drops. The slag that has been solidified and cooled in the quenching chamber bath is collected in a lockhopper and then discharged to a slag pond, from where it is removed using a slag skimmer. This is a process of gradual cooling, but the main cooling takes place in the quenching chamber.
If it is watering, it is similar to the early coke quenching process, but will a large amount of water vapor be generated?
Well, there is steam; when the Ruchi furnace gasifier agent enters from the bottom, the ash is cooled. Then the ash moves into the ash lock, and from there it goes into the slag channel. Hydraulic slag removal involves using water in the slag channel to flush the ash and slag into the sedimentation tank, and during these processes the ash remains cooled.
