In my opinion, steam traps are generally not very reliable. It’s better to use a valve directly.

The steam traps in our factory do not perform well in terms of water drainage; sometimes there are also water hammer issues in the pipelines. In such cases, it’s sufficient to open the bypass valve slightly and then close it after an hour. If that doesn’t work, keep the valve at a slightly open position
